Alan Jones’ New Digital Show Has A Glitchy & Fiery Start

Last night at the debut of his new show Alan Jones declared he couldn’t be “silenced” but, ironically, was subsequently silenced by technical difficulties.

Yesterday was the launch of Jones’ new show online show, Directly To The People. The show is streaming across YouTube, Facebook and his website.

It was a big day for the man who has been through a year of change. He parted ways with Sky News and The Daily Telegraph and continued to stop sharing his questionable views about the pandemic.

During his time between gigs, he has been keeping himself busy by treating Facebook like his new radio show. Jones has been sharing his views, not via the airwaves but instead via his Facebook statuses.

While people haven’t flocked in droves to the new platform. He has still been getting plenty of interaction, we are talking many comments on posts.

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying Jones has a strong and loyal fan base. Basically, with the debut of his new show, it’s clear the Parrot has landed on the internet. He also has plenty to discuss from the pandemic to politics.

However, the launch had a difficult start. Jones started by telling his listeners, “They won’t silence me or you” and then, The Guardian reported that all three feeds came to a stop less than 3 minutes in.

Still, he was back on air within two hours and he discussed all his favourite topics like global warming and politics and even had New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet on the show, so it was all happening.

Naturally, the internet weighed in.

Imagine meeting someone that watches Alan Jones on "digital television"

While it’s hard to gauge how many viewers tuned in across all platforms, YouTube racked up over 5,000 viewers.

Of course, it’ll be interesting to see if his audience grows or declines on the internet. Perhaps he’ll even decide to keep things simple and just focus on his upcoming podcast – only time will tell.

One thing is certain, Jones is back and he doesn’t plan on retiring any time soon.
