Chris Smith has been sacked from Sky News and 2GB after apologising for behaving inappropriately at a Christmas work party. Now, a slew of famous faces have denounced his alleged behaviour.

2GB cut ties with Smith yesterday, followed hours later by Sky News. The two terminations follow Smith’s behaviour at the Sky News Christmas party at the weekend, where Smith admitted his behaviour was unacceptable and “apologising profusely” for his “drunken treatment” of women.

Interestingly, some of Smith’s famous former co-workers have spoken out about his alleged behaviour.

Laura Jayes, a Sky News political reporter, reposted an image of Smith on her Instagram story and wrote, “Good riddance!”

Similarly, Andrew Bolt spoke about Smith’s behaviour on his Sky News show. He said: “Chris, all the very best to you with getting over what you say is your addiction and your bipolar condition, but your recovery must take place somewhere else, not here.

“Good luck but goodbye.”

Sky News personality Rita Panahi said: “What he did on Saturday night, how he made a number of women feel, means that, in my opinion, he can never be on this network again.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reported that 2GB’s Ray Hadley didn’t mince his words when it came to Smith.

He said: “I’m embarrassed to be a former colleague of his, and I hope I never have to work with him again. In fact, I know I won’t ever work with him again, so good riddance to bad rubbish.

“I have no sympathy for him; I’ve heard it all before. ‘I’m bipolar, I drink too much, I’m a monster when I drink’ – we’ve heard that four or five times over the years.”

Smith has apologised for his actions and has checked into a treatment centre.
