NewsLifeMedia CEO Nicole Sheffield and News Corp Australia’s group director – digital product and development Alisa Bowen today announced that News Corp Australia has signed an exclusive three year output deal for content recommendation with the world’s largest content discovery platform Outbrain.

The new partnership will see News Corp Australia roll out Outbrain units on all desktop, mobile and tablet offerings across its leading network of brands including news.com.au, The Australian, its metro mastheads and all of NewsLifeMedia’s brands.

This represents a considerable expansion of an already successful commercial and content discovery arrangement that the two companies have had for a number of years, in which Outbrain’s content discovery technology was used to enhance audience experience on news.com.au.

Sheffield said: “The combination of News Corp Australia’s world class content and Outbrain’s leading recommendation technology provides a hugely engaging experience for our audience.

“News.com.au has proven that Outbrain is one of our most successful personalisation technologies, both internally and off network, and so we are delighted to be expanding our partnership to encompass all of our key digital assets.”

Bowen added: “Outbrain helps people discover content they can trust, both from our network and from third party sources. We know that Outbrain’s best practice algorithms surface interesting, relevant and timely stories for our consumers, which helps drive traffic and engagement metrics.”

Outbrain’s general manager of Australia and New Zealand, Ayal Steiner said: “Over the past few years we have seen more and more brands invest in the Outbrain platform in order to reach highly engaged audiences. These investments translate to a new and significant publisher revenue stream, and we are delighted to be chosen by market leaders, such as News Corp Australia, as their content discovery partner.

“Through this partnership, Outbrain expands beyond article footers and starts powering home page and section front placements on News Corp Australia sites. Together with News Corp, Outbrain powers the largest, open, transparent and most premium environment for content discovery in Australia and we are extremely proud of this milestone.”
