The AFL’s top marketer Andrew Catterall has quit to become head of marketing for Racing Victoria.
Catterall had been with the footy code for eight years as general manager of strategy and marketing, transforming its media strategy with a series of pioneering innovations for Australia.
This included a leading role in the record $1.25bn TV rights deal signed with Seven in 2011, as well as the expansion of the competition and a new digital platform for the code.
Catterall spoke about his vision for the future of the AFL's media and how it would engage fans on multiple devices at an event co-hosted by B&T in September.
He will take up the post of executive general manager of strategy and development with Racing Victoria in February.
Racing Victoria chief executive Bernard Saundry said: ““We are delighted to have Andrew join our team. He’s had extensive experience in a range of strategy and development activities throughout his career and will be a welcome addition to our Executive.
“Andrew has just completed an outstanding period with the AFL as a key member of the AFL Executive team leading strategy, marketing and club services.
“I am looking forward to Andrew sharing his expertise with Clubs and participants at an important time for the industry’s development.”
