Tennis player Sloane Stevens rallied her way from 20th to third place on the social media leaderboard for day 10 of the Australian Open after beating Serena Williams.
Following her unexpected victory over Williams, Stevens received 5,377 tweets, 87% of them positive.
But Williams continues to dominate the social leaderboard with a total of 124,869 tweets for day 10 of the tournament, with 66% positive sentiment.
Within a two hour and 13 minute period, Stephens became an instant celebrity with her twitter followers more than doubling from 17,000 to more than 35,000, and other celebrities tweeting her.
He post-victory tweet read: “[Singer] John Legend tweeted me. [Basketball star] Dirk Nowitski tweeted me. I’m just excited. I want John Legend to sing at my wedding. I was like ‘Oh, my God. He tweeted me.”
Stephens will play top seed and defending champion Victoria Azarekna in the semifinal.
